Get Involved

There are a number of ways that you can help give back to those who helped build our great part of the State. Our Seniors have worked their entire lives to give the rest of us a better way of life; if you would like to show your appreciation, sign up to help promote or carry on a number of our programs. The RCCOA has volunteer opportunities for everyone; whether you are looking for a short or long term commitment.

Meals on Wheels Delivery

There's nothing more rewarding than bringing a smile to someone else's face. When you sign up to deliver Meals On Wheels, you'll brighten the day for a number of our Seniors. Often times, Meals On Wheels recipients look forward more to visiting with the deliverers than receiving their meal. By giving less than one hour a day, you can make a real difference to those who receive this service.

You or your organization can sign up to volunteer for a week or a month; whatever suits your schedule. Volunteers are asked to come to the Meals on Wheels entrance at Sidney Health Center (side door entrance to the kitchen; located near the Emergency Room) at 10:45 am on the day they deliver. You will be given a route sheet with the list of names, addresses, and important information of your meal recipients. You will then be given coolers full of hot food to be delivered to those on your list. A typical route consists of 7 to 12 people and takes anywhere from a half an hour to an hour to complete.

Commodities Packing/Distribution

Can you spare a few hours every 2 months to help feed nearly 80 Seniors in our area? If so, you may want to consider volunteering with our Commodity Supplemental Food Program. We are always in need of volunteers for the following:

• Unloading the truck (once every other month)
  Time Commitment: About an hour
• Packaging Commodities (once every other month)
  Time Commitment: About 2 hours
• Distributing Commodities: (once every other month)
  Time Commitment: About 4 hours
• Delivering Commodities: (once every other month)
  Time Commitment: About 4 hours
